A Normal Day

Discussion on today's xkcd got me reading about arcane methods for computing surface normals and their origins.

Importing data from SalesLogix got me cursing whoever built our company's customizations; the majority of flattened one-to-many relationships in a RDBMS really wind me up. Honestly, when your column names are five versions of <Object>CompleteDate, <Object>Notes, and <Object>TargetDate — wake up! While it was purchased before my tenure, I believe we bought the customization from Sage or a reseller (read: not a hack by some guy put in charge of business applications, but someone considered a programmer).

Maybe I'm too critical?
